The Pope flea infestation of 2012!!

I thought I’d share a story as one of my diary entries. My family and I have a cat, “Tinker” is his name. Originally we thought he was a she, but that’s a whole other story all together. Anyway, while I had an AC mechanic over here working on my AC unit, we left the window open in the basement where he was, so naturally that little punk got out. This was in the evening time and we didn’t check to see if he was around later that night and we all went to bed. Every morning my middle daughter has a ritual where she goes to the basement door and sits and pets him before school time begins. Well, as you can imagine, he wasn’t there.

It didn’t take long to discover what had happened. After a few hours of me looking around and not finding him I decided to put a bowl of food out on my back steps area. I have a motion sensor that makes a chiming noise every time someone approaches my office in my house. I took the sensor and put it outside facing the cat food in hopes that he would come back to eat and I’d hear it. Well believe it or not, my plan worked and I scooped up Tinker and all was good again in the Pope house. At least we thought all was good. Tinker has never had a flea problem.. until then anyway. I didn’t know it at the time but that cat had been out in the woods and gotten fleas all over him. Shortly after “the great escape” we went on vacation for a week, and when we got back, we had a crazy flea infestation in our basement. I could go down there with white socks on and watch the little buggers jump one by one on them. I was average about 7-8 every time, then I’d spray the socks with raid, rinse and repeat.

Myself along with Scott and Mark had a game planning session scheduled the evening that this became a problem. Game planning sessions involves the Two Guys throwing out amazingly funny ideas, me laughing my head off at them, and occasionally throwing out my perspective here and there. Well essentially, I had to cancel the meeting with them due to the wife threatening to get rid of the cat if we didn’t get the flea problem under control. I had already been battling with the little suckers for days and the day of the game planning meeting it was an all out war between me and them, in which they were clearly winning. I sent out an email and let Scott and Mark know what was going on and they both replied cracking up at what was happening at the Pope house hold.

Anyway, later on I got onto our digital planning cork board to see what all had been done while I was away and saw this.. CLICK HERE

So just remember, if/when you’re dealing with flea related vermin in SpaceVenture, have a thought for ole Chris and the flea vermin that he’s STILL battling with! Hopefully by game release, maybe just maybe they’ll be gone!

Man Pope. I know how you feel. My old departed cats had come down with a flea infestation. Thankfully we caught it before it spread throughout the house but it was terrible.

Yeah those little suckers are a nightmare! I’ve been considering opening my own flea circus at this point! 😉 -Chris Pope

Nanoflea puzzle in SpaceVenture! Perhaps Ace needs an ally, or maybe it can be one of those “not my job” flavour of jokes where at times, Ace has to deal with all the crap, regardless of what tenuous relation to actual plumbing there is. Cool stuff, dudes!

Pfff, my cat is outdoors most of the time, and never gets a flea problem. Naturally, she has to take pills and appointments at the vet but that’s a small price to pay when I read this.

Nice to get an insight into the creative process, who knew these things could become so literal 🙂

Haha! I love the mental image of the Space Pope scrambling with a mask on and spray in his hand, screaming, “Depart, you microsized bastards!” Of course, that’s probably not what actually happens, but I like the mental image better. 😉

All of this is true except the spray. I prefer the flame thrower!! Think “Aliens”.. okay I wish! -Chris Pope

Our cat gets out all the time the sneaky little devil that she is, she always finds her way back when she’s hungry, and I’m thoroughly convinced she has an addiction to Temptation treats!

I let my cat outside all the time and he never gets flees. Though we usually get that flee spray and have him visit the vet multiple times!

Ugh, I know how this feels Chris. Due to some very unfortunate circumstances, my girlfriend and I had to take care of two female cats and five kittens over the summer. They all had fleas and we never really succeeded getting rid of them. 24/7, there was this horrible feeling of itching all over my body.

We kept one of them, an adorable little guy, as an indoor cat and have just given him his latest cure against fleas. He’s pretty much flea-free now. But when we first took him to the vet to have him vaccinated, she recommended we treated the problem aggressively, as such a huge flea problem on such a young cat might lead to aenemia, which was quite scary to hear.

Funny story. As for the fleas, get Advantage on Amazon and apply it to your cat.

Even better than chemicals on the cats – get Flea Stoppers from Amazon. You brush it into the carpet once a year. Dehydrates the little suckers AND the eggs. Safe for kids and pets and works like champ.

Ace should have a sidekick, brother, and/or nemesis that’s an exterminator. Perhaps he’s behind the Nano Fleas?

    I hear expansion… 🙂
