  • What the heck’s going on here?

Hey all! Sorry for the update dry spell. here’s a teaser glimpse of a big set piece that has already evolved quite a bit since this initial concept sketch. Still, I’ve blurred out the details so we don’t ruin the puzzles for you. More stuff to come. Cheers! -Mark

  • The new Cluck Y’egger game from Titanbase Productions

Hello you fine earth specimens! (and the rest of you too,)

We want to give you all an update and inform everyone that our friend Ben at Titan Base Productions has recently released an update to his Cluck Yegger app on iTunes, and guess what? For a limited time Cluck is available for just $0.99, and that comes with a veritable pantload of virtual white-shelled projectiles. What a bargain!

So, what’s the big deal with this Cluck Yegger game, you ask? Cluck Yegger was one of our earliest character concepts for SpaceVenture and he plays the major role in the game. (Some of you may remember the fun you had with Cluck’s early working title name. So immature!)

In SpaceVenture, Cluck exists as a character in his own video game reality which players will cross over into as ‘The Feathered Fowl from the Planet Eggo’ at key points in the story, completing objectives that actually help Ace in HIS universe. This nifty little arcade blaster app introduces Cluck to the masses and establishes him as the star of his own video game, a promotional concept we cooked-up before our official Kickstarter campaign launch originally in hopes of raising additional capital for the development of SpaceVenture. Please note though that ultimately not one Buckazoid of backer funds went into the making of this app. Ben has developed Cluck entirely on his own dime and time, a testament to what a dedicated TGFA fan and SpaceVenture supporter he’s been (along with all of you, of course!). And he’s probably not going to be eating any eggs for a while.

So take advantage of this limited time pricing and have some fun with Cluck Yegger. It’s for a worthy cause 😉 Leave some kind reviews (hopefully), and by all means, give Ben some positive feedback on how to continue improving the app.

  • Scene Scale Test

No, Ace doesn’t get cloned in SpaceVenture. This was a test to establish the scale for a corridor scene that occurs early in the game.

  • Cluck’s Free-Range of Expression

While working on the 3D model for Cluck Y’Egger, artist Brent Forrest explores the range of expression hoped for with the facial rigging of the model.

  • Sexy 3D modeling in an equally sexy 2D world!

So for those that missed it, we announced that we’ve been working with Unity as the official engine for SpaceVenture. This was a bit of a gamble in the beginning because we wanted to have Linux support, yet Unity 3 doesn’t support it. We knew that Unity 4 was supposed to have Linux support, so it wasn’t a huge gamble, but luckily, everything paid off! Unity 4 came out a few days ago and seems to be functioning for us great! Our senior programmer Tyler has nothing but good things to say about Unity 4 so far.

We aren’t quite ready to show demo scenes just yet, but  I think you guys are gonna love what we’ve got cooking up! Mark as always has really out done himself with working out solutions to art related problems that could really cause some issues in the direction we’re taking! In the earlier stages of making 3D work right in a 2D adventure game seemed a bit of a reach, but break through after break through has changed my originally nervous mind on this. Seems Unity really does a much better job than a lot of people realize in dealing with 2D stuff in conjunction with 3D. A lot of what has been put into the framework for SpaceVenture will also be easily re-used in future games, which will save time and money.  The framework should also make things easy to improve upon as well!

Another thing that is meshing well in all this is the story line that Mark and Scott have put together. Without spoilers, let me just say that you’ll feel right at home with all the crazy space slang and ridiculous humor that only the Two Guys from Andromeda could bring to the table!

  • WHO WANTS ONE?

Exclusive Rooter Cut-n-Fold prototype in the making.

  • Cluck Y’egger Comin’ Atcha in Spellbinding 3D!

We are very, very privileged and thrilled to have such top 3D artist talent lending their skills to this game. Their amazing work really inspires us further to make Spaceventure the best damn adventure game out there. Brent Forrest is the guy who’s breathing life into our Cluck Yegger character, currently. Brent has taken the original concept and evolved it into this spectacular character design. I, for one, can’t wait for Cluck to take to the skies in Spaceventure.

  • IT’S ALIVE!

Here’s a look at some of the fine modeling and animation work of Mr. Michael Penny, one of the talented 3D artists who have teamed-up with us for Spaceventure.

Mike really nailed Rooter’s personality and we’re very excited about how this little guy has come together.

Scott and I consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have such awesomely gifted fans eager to lend their talents to this project.

Be sure to check out Mike’s amazing commercial work on his website: www.nextheory.com.
